Challenge
With IT boom going down the drain connect2web was
posed with the challenge to develop a commerce site that
would add value and new dimension to Charly’s licensing
business. The portal had to be user friendly yet provide
full business process. LicenseMusic wanted to bring the
whole track selection, negotiation & licensing process
online so that users can initiate business anytime anywhere.
The other main challenge was near coming MIDEM fair where
the portal was to be displayed.

Intelligence
With a very short span of time and requirements not
fully defined, connect2web opted to follow the extreme
programming methodology. The off-shore & onsite teams
worked closely and kept the LicenseMusic people aware
of all the development. Through this almost instant response
was received that helped in refining system to LicenseMusic’s
need.

Solution
connect2web solution consisted of separate layer for business
logic and user interface logic. The architecture provided
scalability and robustness that is essential for high
traffic sites & portals. The users could register for
subscription channel and access it after authorization
from the system administrator. Users search through thousands
of tracks and short list tracks of their interest. Users
can then submit selected tracks for licensing and negotiate
via an interactive workflow section. This workflow presented
the historic data as well as the latest values for negotiation.
All this is accessible after authentication by the server.
Technologies used for the solution were Active Server
Pages for browser based user interface, Visual Basic 6.0
for business layer components deployed over COM+ Services
and MS SQL Server 2000 for data persistence.
