connect2web have developed a full online e-learning application. The system is divided into 3 main areas: Students, Teachers and Site administration.

connect2educate can be used by an educational institute to offer a full course programme online, or even a basic one off "class". Additionally it can be used by training institutes to offer their courses and seminars online.

A full administration section is provided to allow you to create and manage courses, and register and process students.

Online Courses
The main objective is to provide students with an online lecture room where the teacher broadcasts via audio, video (optional) and text chat. The teacher has the ability to send documents to all students or a particular student, as reference material.

Each course may have a number of assignments and exams. A student can download an assignment and when completed can upload it back to the site. Students can also sit for online quizzes and tests.

The application has a built in time table and calendar feature so that both the student and teacher can organise their schedule accurately. By default a calendar is updated with all the course information, for any course a student registers on. This includes start and end dates for any assignment. Students and teachers also have the ability to add personal items to their calendar.

Online Teaching Environment
This environment comprises of 2 parts. Firstly, what the teacher sees (and can do) and secondly, what the student sees (and can do).

1. From the students point of view when they log onto the site they can see a list of lectures with the coordinating date and time of lecture. When a lecture is active (a lecture becomes active 15 minutes before the lecture is due to start) the student can simply click to enter the classroom. Once inside the classroom the student can see other students and whether a teacher is present or not. By default the student is not able to communicate with anyone.

2. The teacher gets a similar screen where they are able to see what class they have to take and when. Once the teacher logs into the classroom all the students see that the teacher is now present. At the appropriate time the teacher starts the lecture. While a lecture is in progress the audio and video communication is saved so that it can be accessed later. All information in a lecture is available after the lecture for download. The classroom contains a whiteboard upon which the lecturer may draw. At any time the lecturer can choose to save the whiteboard as an image.
